Anyway, since the Cannes Film Festival seems to last forever, good news for us is that fashion never ends. And as always, Raf Simons and Dior win.

Lesson #1: Dita von Teese can do no wrong. Ever. Even when she married Marilyn Manson. Lesson #2: She is killing it in this Alexis Mabille Couture gown. All wrapped up in a bow.

In my opinion, Marion Cotillard is one of the most beautiful women in the world. And this color-blocking Dior gown is nothing but perfect on her.

Naomi Watts in Dolce & Gabanna - retro and lovely.

Just as Cindy Crawford did in my last post, Sharon Stone is blowing all these young bucks out of the water. Her Roberto Cavalli dress is flawless on her, even a bit risque. But what else can you expect from South Florida’s favorite designer?

And the winner this go ‘round is, by far, Jennifer Lawrence in not only this perfection of a Dior gown

…but also THIS perfection of a Dior gown. Raf Simons has peplum down to a science. Also - can we start counting down the days until Catching Fire? Because I am a 12 year-old. And I will be at opening night. Again.

Drink up, kids. It’s time for the Cannes Film Festival. While I won’t get started on my utter life disappointment that was The Great Gatsby, I am quite intrigued with the fashion thus far at Cannes. Even Nicole Kidman looked rad, because bless her heart, she isn’t one of fashion’s most loved lately. First off, check the hair:

Gives faux-hawk a new meaning. Where was this ‘do at the MET ball?

Now, onto the dress:

Dior, obviously. Because Raf Simons is Midas himself.

Speaking of The Great Gatsby, next up, we have Lana Del Rey:

Just as unapologetic I am for my love of Rachel Zoe, I am equally unapologetic of my love for Lana. Lana wore Lena, by the way. Lena Hoschek. And she looked elegant.

And up next is someone I am NOT a fan of - Cara Delevingne. But somehow, I always am a fool in love for her fashion choices. This time, she looks amazing, per usual, in Burberry.

I didn’t save the best for last, as I usually do. But Carey Mulligan in Balenciaga was, by far, my favorite. Sleek and modern. And when you got Leo on your side, along with a mis-matched Baz, all is right in the world.

Ok, maybe I did save best for last. Because Cindy Crawford okie-doked you all. Why is she at Cannes? Good question. But who cares. She is perfection in Roberto Cavalli. Ten bucks says Leo was trying to holler.

Leave it to the fashion world to think they know EVERYTHING about anything (myself included). It was quite humorous to see what everyone’s interpretation was of “punk fashion,” however. While MOST missed the mark (and I’m talking 99%), I will say that overall, I was more pleased with the couture this year than last year. That being said, the theme this year was PUNK: Chaos to Couture. Let’s get real, ladies and gentlemen - this was your chance to dress rad and have colored hair! In fact, it’s pretty much demanded. So why most people did not do this is beyond me.

Anyway, I know present you with the best and worst. Because it’s fun to laugh at people’s interpretations of “punk.”

PS - I’m a working gal now. I don’t have all day to hunt for perfect pictures. Yes, my pictures came from Perez Hilton and Just Jared. Get over it. A girl’s gotta eat.

First, the lovelies:

Cara Delevingne (who annoys the crikies out of me) looks divine in Burberry.

Y’all knew that Chloe Sevingy was gonna look cray. Looking as punk as one can get in the Upper East Side in Proenza Schouler. Check out that bra.

Sweet baby Dakota Fanning in Rodarte. I wouldn’t say that the Mulleavy sisters know much about punk, per se. But they do like to scowl. That counts for something.

Most people had Elizabeth Banks in Versace on their worst-dressed list. I bet to differ. I love a good tuxedo jacket as a dress. Stickin’ it to the man in no pants.

I just love this girl. And mostly everything she wears. This Givenchy little number is no exception. However, I do consider it bit more 1969 love child as opposed to punk.

Here’s one of the outfits I’m torn on. Punk? HELL NO. MET-ball appropriate (with any theme)? HELL NO. Do I love it in general? Yes. For a day of flea market shopping, perhaps. Ivanka Trump in Juan Carlos Obando.

Ms. Kiki Dunst in Louis Vuitton. It’s somewhat like a mullet. Punk on top. Feathery on the bottom.

Lily Collins in Moschino. It’s really not the dress I’m crazy about, but more so the hair. Blue hair is ALWAYS punk. I’m sure Phil is proud.

It wouldn’t be a Sequins in the Daytime blog post without posting something that I know I will get made fun of. I love Mary Kate Olsen’s The Row ensemble. It’s not punk, yes, I know. But it’s amazing. We all know I love Granny Couture.

Ahh Nicole Richie. God bless her. First of all, she wears Topshop. Second of all, she looks sick. (Sick enough to make Rihanna barf). Third of all, her hair is white. I’m done.

Nina Dobrev in Monique Lhuillier is inching towards being one of my favorites of the evening. I love nothing more than tulle.

I. Love. Solange. So I’m probably bias. Solange in Kenzo is not punk. Not at all. But she’s cool. And she looks cool. My heart couldn’t leave her out.

Ugh. Men’s fashion makes me die of boredom. I don’t even know who Zachary Pinto is wearing because suits are the worst. But again, the cat has blue hair, and I’m always ok with that.

Please don’t think I put Gwen on here just because I have an unhealthy obsession (which some people call stalking). I truly think her Maison Martin Margiela gown is not only spot-on, but the best of the night. Dare to argue?

Ok, I had quite a bit of goodies this year. For the worst - it’s a 3 way tie. Let’s take votes, shall we?

Gwyneth Paltrow in Valentino. Umm. Did she think the theme was ‘pink’ as opposed to ‘punk?’ ‘Prom,’ perhaps? Honey got the wrong memo.

Zooey Deschanel in Tommy Hilfiger. Because nothing screams ‘punk’ like yachting. And gingham.

Oh, look. It’s Madonna trying to be 14 again in Givenchy. Almost as boring as a men’s tuxedo.

The Great Gatsby: A Role Model (at Least in Fashion)

It probably says a lot about me that growing up, The Great Gatsby was my favorite book. A book about people partying all the time? I’ll take it.

So when I found out that the director of Romeo + Juliet, Baz Luhrmann, was making a new Gatsby movie, I flipped my lid. Remember how beautiful Moulin Rouge was? Remember how street smart Romeo + Juliet was? Remember the COSTUMES and MUSIC in both films?

Then, I started seeing leaked promos and stills from the movie. And I already knew this would probably become my favorite movie, as well as book. Sequins. Headbands. Fringe. Take a peek:

Even with all the handsome fellas around, you cannot take your eyes off Carey Mulligan’s pearls, jewels and fur stole. Pure elegance.

Carey is one trendy Daisy with her head wrap.

Sequin heaven. Leo heaven.

Carey takes the term “dripping in jewels” to another level. And check out Tobey, AKA Nick Carraway, drinkin’ it up, Spring Break-style.

For as much as I love warm weather is pretty equivalent to how much I hate shorts. All summer long, you will find me in a dress, which is weird because A. What’s the difference? And B. I usually dress somewhat like a boy.

I am still on the fence about the recent Bermuda Shorts trend. I find it to be very reminiscent of a mother. But at least it covers the thighs and knees, right?

It's a Rad Time to be a Celeb Stylist

Setting aside my Rachel Zoe obsession, it is a phenomenal time to be a stylist. Preferably of the celebrity kind. Take Kate Young, for instance. The newest gal to be tapped by Target to do a collection, she has most certainly impressed. Especially if you are currently on the hunt for an evening gown. Because aren’t we all?

The woman of the hour, all wrapped up in a bow. Anyone who wears over-sized bows is ALWAYS ok with me.

Ball gown # 1. Classic in black and white. And there goes that bow again.

Ball gown #2. Is it red? Is it lace? I love bipolar clothing.

Little pixie herself, Michelle Williams, in a white blazer and bodysuit. But I can’t decide which I like better - the evening shorts, or the Flock of Seagulls hair do.

Since this IS a Target collab, prices aren’t too bad. But y’all know how Target is. Give it a few weeks, and all of this will be on the 30% of rack.

Stalking the Brits

I’ve never made it a secret that most of my adult life, I have been obsessed with London. These stalker-tendencies got heightened when I visited London this past January. Passing through again in March on the way to Italy (bleccch) I realized I had a problem. My problem? Hoarding British fashion magazines. Now while I do think the American mags are insanely better-written, it’s the fashion in British Elle, Vogue, InStyle and Marie Claire that take the cake. Or biscuits. Behold some of my best finds:

I got way too excited when I saw that Azealia Banks had a new video out with my favorite neon model, Chloe Norgaard, prancing around in it.

Perhaps working in the hair color industry has made me a bit bias, but I am absolutely in love with model Chloe Norgaard. No one is like her. Another belated thought on the Fall 2013 NYFW shows:

The weirder, the better. Streetwear > couture.

Take the Hood by Air show. As an audience member at this haunted house of a show at Milk Studios, I was equally as mesmerized by the fog machine and strobe lights as I was the innovative clothes. I love how Brooklyn this line is. I could literally see my neighbors wearing this:

Seriously. Brooklyn is weird, y’all. And yes, that is A$AP Rocky.

The moral of this story is that fashion is always a’ changin’ - one minute, ball gowns are in. Another minute, zombie club kids are in. I can’t keep up anymore.
